Estimate how many calories you burn
Calculate your energy expenditure and plan your body weight goals with the NIH Bodyweight Planning tool and https://www.myplate.gov/myplate-plan. For more info about the tool's development and validation, see: here, here, and here.
Track your calorie intake
Use the reliable and accurate nutrition tracking app from Nutritionix, and/or use the web-based Nutritionix Food Database. I also recommend some alternatives: The FatSecret app is also very good, with similar functionality to Nutritionix. And, if you are specifically interested in thorough micronutrient tracking, Cronometer is superb.
Calculate how many calories you need, track your calorie intake, and monitor your body weight goals
Estimates your daily energy expenditure (like the NIH Bodyweight Planning tool) and track your nutrition (using the Nutritionix database) while monitoring your body weight goals all inside one app: The Macrofactor app.
Important: I am not affiliated with, sponsored by, or receiving royalties from NIH, Nutritionix, FatSecret, Cronometer, or Macrofactor. I use and value their tools because they are accurate, relaible, and user-friendly.
Access to education is a right, not a privilege
Equality in education, health, and sustainability matters deeply to me. I was fortunate to be born into a social welfare system in which higher education was free. Sadly, that's no longer true. That's why I created Veohtu: to make high-quality exercise science and sports nutrition education freely available to folks from all walks of life. All content is free and always will be.
Every day is a school day.
Empower yourself to train smart.
Be informed. Stay educated. Think critically.
